The house is all painted up, the rotten boards have been replaced, the doors are painted, the entablature over the front door has been installed and we have new front porch lights and mailbox. Looking better all the time. The color is Pier.

Going Grey
The first coat of paint is on the front of the house! It's only the first coat and the house looks a little naked without the shutters (which are also in tatters and in need of a major overhaul and/or replaced) but so far so good! No more big yellow house though :(

Primer Perfect
Here are the final primer pics. We've had lots of rotten boards replaced. Found bats in one of the walls...

Exterior Primer
The primer is going on! And finally, the piece over the door to restore the entry to it's original state.

Bathroom Sink Done
It's done! With working water and everything!
And might I remind you of the view when we started. No ceiling, no floor, just mold:

Bathroom Vanity
Here's the vanity that was purchased for the upstairs bathroom. There are 2 problems. The first is that we have to do some slicing and dicing to get it to sit back against the wall, due to that ridic (pre-existing) plumbing job. And the second is that the floor slopes about 2-3" so it needs leveled in a bad way.
Shades of Grey
With spring rolling around, we're ready to get serious about painting this house! Finally! The burning question is: What color?
It sits in a prominent place in the city and the yellow is kind of iconic at this point. White has also been kicked around. But we're finding that many Greek Revivals were traditionally painted grey to mimic the stone of the Greek temples. Here are a few examples we love.
And here's a grey-scale pic of our house, just to get an idea. At present it is yellow with green shutters.

Gas Leaks
What a fun way to kick off the spring! Just in time for our 2 year anniversary with the house the gas company informed us there are multiple leaks in the gas line - on both their side of things and ours. Gas has been off a few days now. No heat, no hot water. At least it's warming up outside. On the plus side, all those massive stumps in the front yard that have been needing to go are now history! Ya win some, ya lose some.

Linen Closet
Nothing like a surprising pop of pink behind the closet door. The linen closet is getting the Lilly Pulitzer treatment with Hollyhock Pink by Martha Stewart. Some nice white shelves and bright floral contact paper will complete the look!

Stairway
Refinishing the steps has been a challenge since they still need to be usable. Every other one it is!

Completed Master Bedroom
It's done! It's finally done!
The walls are Exotic Eggplant by Behr and the woodwork, as usual, is Falling Snow by Behr. Two small chandeliers and a little fireplace tiling needed, but other than that it's gorgeous!
Here's the "before" for reference:

Growing Girls
The girls are growing like crazy these days. Although they look to be growing into full-sized collies and not the Shelties we were led to believe they were! Guess you take your chances with rescues. They ought to be magnificent guard dogs.

Almost Done
This room (the master bedroom) has been a really drawn out process (remember the bees last year?), but I am happy to report that the woodwork is entirely painted, the floor is refinished, the ceiling is painted and now it is just awaiting a few coats of Exotic Eggplant (by Behr) and it will be ready to move into! Though there is a fair amount of electrical work to be done still. There is only 1 outlet in the entire room and it doesn't even work!

Puppy Update
The girls are growing like crazy...and tearing the top layer of paper off the drywall in the laundry room where they're corralled. Ahhh puppies. Meanwhile, they've got Jasmine feeling absolutely exhausted.

Backyard Plants
The garden is doing well in all this heat and rain. Flowers everywhere too! The yards still need landscaping work, but at least they're spacious and leafy green.
