The Walk-In Closet

One of the bedrooms had already been "refinished" and doesn't need the plaster work that the rest of the bedrooms do so it's being hurried along as a temporary bedroom for the time being but will eventually be a huge walk-in closet. And I am happy to announce that the purple paint is finally a distant memory!
The new color is Aging Barrel by Behr.

Counters & Cabinets

Here's the kitchen progress from this past weekend. The new counter tops are going in and getting rid of that old pink counter should make a huge difference in the mood of the room. The cabinets have all been primed and with Adhesive Primer by Sherwin Williams, which is supposed to make the paint go on and stay on in a much nicer fashion. Now they need a few coats of white paint and, most importantly, new hardware.

Laundry Room

This was the dirtiest, ugliest room. Amazing what a fresh coat of paint and some cleaning will do. The color is Sliced Cucumber by Behr and all the woodwork is Falling Snow by Behr. Still deciding on the floors...

The New Roof is Done

Here are some shots of the brand new roof. The color is Burnished Slate from 64 Metals.

The previous roof, which was painted. This had actually damaged the metal a good deal.
The new metal roof! We decided to leave the chimneys, against the roofer's advice.

Paint Me A Picture

The previous owner clued us in to a painting of the house that hung in the local Historical Society museum. Got a chance to check it out today! Some pieces of the original entryway are no longer there so it's nice to finally have that visual for when we get around to restoring the facade. We'd also been curious as to the original color of the house, which is now a very bright yellow with green shutters.

A New Roof

Things are getting underway! We can't paint and renovate the rest of the rooms until the plaster work has been done. The plaster work can't be done until water stops streaming down the walls. And the indoor rain won't stop until the roof is replaced. So this is a big step in the right direction for the poor house.

Of course it started raining once the roof was off. But let's be honest, it probably wouldn't have mattered.

Kitchen Update

The kitchen is being redesigned in a solid white color scheme so buckets of white paint have already gone up. The filthy blue carpet is finally gone and we're slowly covering up all the wood paneling. The new counter top is on the way and a shiny new sink is ready to go (the old 40s sink has been shifted to the laundry room, which is through the door on the left).

A Better Bathroom

Made big strides in the kitchen and bath downstairs this weekend. Here are a few side by side comparisons.

Busted!

Welp, here's the culprit in the living room waterfall:
A blowout in the pipe under the floor in the upstairs bathroom.

The sink was taken out weeks ago and the flooring had to be taken up to access the pipe.
