Holy Floor Seams

Several weeks ago we took up the majority of the carpet in the dining room and declared it in good shape. This weekend we took up the rest of the carpet and found a whole lot of unexpected floor seams and hacked up, pieced together wood. We're not exactly sure what the matching chunks out of either side of the bay window used to be. But the seam is uneven enough that we're going to have to have another go around with the industrial sander, which we were all hoping to avoid.

Refrigeration

After spending several weeks in the living room while the paint and floor were being finished, the refrigerator was finally moved into the kitchen. The first new appliance is in place! And the power even came back on...10 days after the storm!

July Showers

The house is officially shower-in-able! And not a moment too soon considering the 100 degree temps. These are the upstairs bathroom before and afters. Still no sink or flooring, but a huge improvement nonetheless. The woodwork has all been stained dark and the walls are now Polished Pearl by Behr. The beautiful new shower set is the Sedona model by Pfister in Tuscan Bronze.

Storm Damage

Pics of the storm damage from last night. Luckily none of our trees were too badly damaged and the house is fine. The surrounding trees, however, didn't fair so well. One huge pine tree fell right at the entrance to the alley that accesses this house and about 4 others and the alley is completely blocked. No one is getting cars in or out for a while. Power lines are also tangled in all the tree wreckage. (excuse the quality; phone pics)

Entryway Flooring

While we were sanding the kitchen floor we also decided to go ahead and do the entryway floor. The goal is to have all the wood floors be at least close to the same color throughout. It has now been stained a nice mahogany to match the kitchen floor. It needs several coats of polyurethane and then it will be all done!
